Hurricane Danielle Swell Update for Atlantic coast of Europe. Issued midnight Friday UK time. Following 2 days of unusually good surf, the swell period has dropped to more normal values of 11-13 seconds but the amplitude has increased a little to compensate. Overall the strongest surf conditions have already passed on westernmost coasts (Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany) and will moderate everywhere through Saturday. Still good surf to be had as a result of mostly easterly winds but by Sunday as the swell fades to sub-meter, you will need to seek out the most exposed locations.

In summer, the prevailing winds are from the east, so whenever there's wind, there will be waves. I had 5 days solid recently. It's a fun spot with friendly and enthusiastic locals and even though far from world-class, to catch a wave in Ibiza whilst wearing only boardies is a pleasant surprise. I've lived in Ibiza for 9 months now, and contrary to popular belief, the Med does get surf and often!

Goolwa and the surrounding coast have a number of quality breaks.

Starting at Middleton Point (check out the great bakery at Middleton after a surf)look to the East towards Goolwa and you will find plenty of beach breaks to choose from.

Paddling into the lineup is very easy and the locals are friendly as long as you show respect.

The wave holds well to 3ft with plenty of waves for short boards and malibus. Anything over 6ft will see large amounts of white water and a tough paddle. When it gets to 6ft head over towards Victor Harbor and check out Chiton Rocks, The Dump and The Pines.

This stretch of coast can be very fickle over summer (Nov -March) however the pick is during winter with strong ground swells and offshore winds. Whales appear during winter and there are plenty of pubs and local markets to keep you occupied.

Only a 90km drive from Adelaide, the capital of South Australia you can do a day trip or stay for a while in the many caravan parks and hotels.

Belham Valley or as we call it here "Pelican Point" is absolutely a great break when we actually have waves ha-ha. It is a smooth clean over a minute ride on a good day that is defiantly worth experiencing if you are lucky enough to be there on the right day. Winter time is indeed the best time of the year to come get lucky on this wave. Only about five of us on island actually surf so when the waves are good it really is a little piece of paradise! Pictures of the break are available if wanted for the site. Hopefully tropical storm earl brings some waves are way this Sunday/Monday! Like to thank the maker of this site for putting Montserrat on the map as a surf spot and for giving us reliable weather information. I check this site very often. Surf up!
